More passengers take bus to Liverpool Airport |

More people are taking public transport to Liverpool Airport than ever before, according to figures released by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). They show 15% of all passengers last year travelled to the airport by bus or train, up 75% on 2005 and above the 12% target set for 2008 by an Airport Transport Forum. Ryanair has announced 13 new routes from four of its UK hubs - Bristol, East Midlands, Liverpool and Prestwick - including its first flights to Belfast City Airport. Scottish budget airline Flyglobespan has announced that it is to scrap its flights between Liverpool Airport and New York, less than 6 weeks after launching the route. The flights, which are expected to restart today after one plane spent nearly a week grounded in America due to a technical fault, will be scrapped on October 31.
