Starting from 7 May, the Latvian airline airBaltic will launch two direct flights from Riga to Liepaja daily, however the airline is not going to stop only with domestic flights.
The President of airBaltic, Bertolt Flick comments: “This is a big and important step for our company because we have gained good experience from the previous flights. Currently, we not only open two flights to Liepaja daily but flights from Liepaja to Copenhagen and Hamburg are also in their planning stages, and our intentions are even larger. We are very satisfied since this is the first serious step in order Liepaja would become an important airport. Besides, flights of airBaltic is also an important factor for the development of economy and tourism in Kurzeme, as well as in the north-west region of Lithuania.” Flights from Riga to Liepaja will be offered by Fokker 50 aircrafts, two times a day from Monday till Friday. Planned duration of flight: 40 minutes. One-way tickets for this flight from Riga to Liepaja will cost LVL 19.10 (with airport taxes) and a ticket for flight from Liepaja to Riga will cost LVL 10.50. Liepaja is proud of the city’s ancient and rich culture traditions, music festivals, peculiar architecture. Kurzeme and the north-west region of Lithuania offers sandy beaches, unique places for observing wild animals and birds, as well as possibilities for active recreation.
