Today, the Latvian airline airBaltic launches direct flights from Riga to the Estonian town of Kuressaare, thus offering new opportunities for people who wish to visit Estonia’s islands or enjoy the spas of Saaremaa Island.

Bertolt Flick, president of airBaltic comments: “The airBaltic’s new flight to Saaremaa represents a growing trend in tourism – SPA and health tourism, which can be merged with active recreation on the islands of the Baltic Sea.”

The airBaltic flight from Riga to Kuressaare will be offered twice a week on a Fokker 50 aircraft. A one-way fare from Riga to Kuressaare will start at LVL 29, including airport taxes (Kuressaare - Riga from EEK 488). Total flight time – 40 minutes. Driving from Riga to Kuressaare takes around five hours.

Saaremaa is an attractive destination to travellers because of its ancient architecture, active tourism, unique bird and animal habitats, and diverse landscape of shoreline, where sandy beaches interweave with dolomite cliffs.
