airBaltic to Launch Direct Flights From Riga to Palanga

On April 1, the Latvian airline airBaltic will begin offering direct flights from Riga to the Lithuanian resort town of Palanga.  
From April, there will be eight nonstop flights a week between the two cities. Passengers will fly aboard a Fokker 50 airplane, and the flight will take just 45 minutes. One-way ticket prices begin at LVL 25, including airport and transaction fees. The full schedule of airBaltic flights can be found online at www.airbaltic.com.

The new flight offers excellent transit connections via Riga to and from 50 destinations in Western Europe, CIS countries, Scandinavia, and Mediterranean region. From Riga in summer 2009 airBaltic offers direct flights to Aalesund, Almaty, Athens, Amsterdam, Baku, Barcelona, Bergen, Berlin, Billund, Brussels, Copenhagen, Chisinau, Dublin, Dusseldorf, Dushanbe, Gothenburg, Hamburg, Hannover, Helsinki, Istanbul, Kaliningrad, Kiev, Kuopio, London, Linkoping, Milan, Minsk, Moscow, Munich, Nice, Odessa, Oslo, Oulu, Palanga, Paris, Rome, Simferopol, Stavanger, St. Petersburg, Stockholm, Tallinn, Tashkent, Tampere, Tbilisi, Tel Aviv, Tromso, Venice, Vienna, Vilnius, Zurich and Yerevan.

Palanga is Lithuania’s most important resort town, with lovely and sandy beaches on the shore of the Baltic Sea. The town has three sanatoriums and more than 100 guesthouses and hotels. It is widely known for thermal and mineral baths. During the summer, Palanga serves as Lithuania’s capital for entertainment and culture, with the widest possible variety of events for all tastes. Those who love action will enjoy water cycles, yachts, bicycles, horses, tennis, miniature golf, and other activities. There are many picturesque nature trails for hikers and bikers. Palanga is also an outstanding place for conferences and seminars. One of the most lovely places in town is the building which houses the Lithuanian Amber Museum, not forgetting about the large park which surrounds it.
